Corporate Services

Successful companies hire the right employees and provide training and development programs to retain top talent. These workshops are designed to help the manager understand the values that drive and influence the workforce of today, and effectively manage conflict to increase productivity.

Training and Consultation

Generations in the Workplace – examines the workplace of today, and why it is important to understand its diverse attributes and motivational factors. There are four unique generations in the workplace today, each influenced by their upbringing and technological expertise. This workshop examines each generation, and how their ambitions, skills and values affect our age-diverse workforce. Organizations are more effective when they understand employee work styles and motivating factors of each generation. Those attributes will be highlighted and better understood, resulting in improved team effectiveness.

Straight Talk – deals with conflict in the workplace and provides effective methods to conflict resolution. This workshop offers an approach to solve difficult communication problems and to create the optimum outcome from a situation. Employees will be offered ways to deal with conflict head-on, both in a team environment and on a one-on-one basis. These methods help managers develop improved communication skills resulting in a more productive work environment. It can also assist them through sensitive, and at times difficult, face-to-face employee evaluations.

Presentation Skills – offers several clear and concise methods of preparing and delivering a presentation. Statistics show that 90% of the population is afraid of public speaking. This workshop examines ways of dealing with this fear and provides the presenter with tips and techniques on how to deliver an effective presentation.

These workshops are offered as half day or full day courses, or can be tailored to a less formal lunchtime learning or “brown bag” session.

Resume Writing – In today’s highly competitive job market, you need a powerful presentation of your successful accomplishments displayed in a creatively effective manner. What distinguishes your resume from the rest when it is 1 of 300? This workshop provides the basics to understanding your strengths and writing a resume to make the right impression to a potential employer. Whether you need to update your current resume, create a new one for a different industry, or write one for the very first time, this session will help you create a resume to fit your career needs…and in doing so, help you prepare for the interview.

Burn-Out or Rust-Out – Which one fits you? Are you overwhelmed and stressed out, or are you just bored with your career? This workshop offers supportive, one-on-one coaching to find that “spark” again. Do you love to go to work everyday? Most people would like to say yes to that question, but cannot. We will examine where you are in your career, evaluate your current work and life balance, and develop a plan to put the fire back into your work life. This session will utilize career assessment tools to determine your work interest and values.

Job and Career Transition – No longer are we employees for life. Everyone entering the workforce today will, on average, hold three to five jobs in their career. Currently, we are experiencing a weak economy and job uncertainty. If you are in transition between jobs or planning to move when the economy picks up, you need an effective plan to be successful. This workshop helps you create your personal marketing plan that highlights your successful attributes to potential employers.

Networking – is the most effective way of landing a job!!! Research shows that 60% - 70% of all jobs landed today are through networking, yet people shy away from this job search method. This workshop provides tips and techniques on how to network effectively and to build a network of contacts. We will examine both written and oral communication techniques that are necessary to successfully network. When these skills are combined, they are an effective, successful method of finding the right job…and easier than you may think.

Client Testimonials:

“Bob Dolan/CareerScapes has been an invaluable resource to me. Bob worked with me – – and made me work – – until I had a solid resume that was representative of my accomplishments and skills, and one of which I can be proud. The process was as valuable as the end–result. The quality and level of service provided was superb. I also employed Bob for Career Counseling. This process was similarly valuable. Through it, I became aware of options and possibilities that I had not considered before we began working together. I recommend Bob and his services highly and without reservation.”

Liz St. Germain

“In June of 2003, I was laid-off from my job as a result of company down sizing and re-organization. Even though this did not come as a surprise, what was surprising was how outdated my résumé and job search skills had become in comparison to today´s job market. My previous employer had provided me with out-placement services; however, I quickly felt like one of the cattle herd moving through their program. So just by chance through my individual networking I ran into Bob Dolan. There was an immediate bonding with Bob given his extensive business experience and warm and humorous personality. My first course of action was to re-write my résumé. In working with Bob, I focused my attention on prior accomplishments using what he called the Challenge, Action, Result ´CAR´ approach. Bob´s homework and exercises took me out of my old mind set in writing a résumé which read like many job descriptions to one based upon accomplishments, successes, and results. Very surprisingly and unknowingly these exercises and my conservations with Bob helped to improve my self-esteem during this critical time. Very quickly I had terrific résumé with a new mental attitude as I begin networking for my job search. So, if you are in transition between jobs or are in the process of sharpening your skills as you search for your next position; with out reservation, I would recommend that you contact Bob Dolan ASAP.”

"A few months ago I was facing a possible layoff in a telecommunications job that I had for the last 20 years. The thought of changing careers was pretty scary, and I knew that I needed a great résumé to compete in the current job market. A friend of mine had told me about CareerScapes, and I am forever grateful for the help I received from Bob in putting together an outstanding résumé. Over 800 people applied for this job, and I was one of only 40 applicants to get a position at KeySpan Energy Delivery."
